Bollywood heart-throb Aamir Khan’s latest ritzy venture, Thugs of Hindostan sank wretchedly at the box office! The film became the subject of criticism for critics and viewers alike. With the cast including Khan himself, mega star Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheik, the flick considered to be a blockbuster.
With the super-star cast and the earlier released thrilling trailers, the film managed to create hype among the audience and people began questioning if the Thugs of Hindostan is going to be a critical success for Amir Khan? Soon after its release, the film simply didn’t match the spectator’s expectations. Why? Let’s explore some reasons.

THUGS OF HINDOSTAN |
The Not-So-Good track record of the director:
What might have served as one of the core reasons for the movie’s failure was the not-so-promising track record of the director, Vijay Krishna Achary
His directorial background shines light on how he has gotten golden opportunities for creating big banner and high budget like Tashan (2008) and Dhoom 3 (2013). Despite the fact that both these movies starred the finest star cast and had a very hard working crew, they both were a ‘nay’ for the audience.
Of course criticising Vijay Krishna Acharya solely on basis of two movies aforementioned is definitely not right, as he has given pretty exceptional screenplays in successful films like Dhoom & Dhoom2. But he definitely overdoes things, when it comes to direction. Amir Khan might have made a mistake here while expanding a colossal budget of 250 Crores with a director with this background.
Similarity with Pirates Of the Caribbean:
You simply cannot help but compare Thugs Of Hindustan to the Pirates of the Caribbean as it’s a picture perfect match from the action set pieces and production design to the characters! Aamir Khan’s character Firangi Mallah is an Indian version of Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in POC. Khan, knowingly or unknowingly has even depicted the distinct accent of Mr. Sparrow, chugs a bottle of whiskey like our beloved drunkard Sparrow, in fact walks and dances unusually like Sparrow! Amitabh Bachhan’s character is Captain Hector Barbossa.

Disappointing Music:
The movie disappointed the song-lovers big time. Honestly speaking, Thugs Of Hindustan did not offer any impressive song. Two item numbers by Katrina Kaif were also considered disappointing and unnecessary.
Poor Graphics and Plot:
With almost a 300 Crore budget, this film is, generally, splashed in CGI, like its partner ‘Baahubali’. Setting pardons like time, spending plan and accessibility aside, the visual effects looked below par. The VFX used in certain shots and scenes looked like as if they’re plucked straight out of an expensive video game.
The film pretty much begins with muskets, substantial rain and filling explosive in overwhelming rain. In the event that you think that it’s strange, this is pretty much tone for rest of the picture. The songs were choreographed like they were being done for some film fare award functions.
The editing team did a pretty shoddy job merging the scenes captured using the body double and the scenes where face of the actor is shown. Some of sequences in the movie were extremely strange, e.g. the Charlie chaplain’s battle succession towards the end of a song was extremely aggravating. Likewise everybody continued swinging in the film, in every other scene you can find a person swinging!
There was a shrieking eagle floating all through the movie which had no reason at all. It was a pleasant touch in the first scene, yet not on the off chance that it screams in each other scene.

Amir Khan |
The entire film had a craving for obliging the star persona of Amir Khan from a typical thug to Mangal Pandey, everything else appeared to be secondary.
